Understanding Grief

Understanding grief is essential to grief recovery. This is because grief is neither a pathological condition nor a personality disorder.

Unresolved grief is a major and largely unaddressed public health issue.

Grief is not logical. It is the emotional response to a loss or trauma, a normal and natural reaction to loss or any form of change.

Grief is the conflicting feelings caused by the end of or change in a familiar pattern of behavior.

Trauma impacts our emotions. Grief is the normal emotional response to it.

Grief creates toxic energy in us. It affects the quality of our though process.

However, grief can be resolved. Recovery is possible through specific steps, by actions that will lead us to moving beyond the emotional pain of grief onto a richer quality of life free from pain.
